We have lived in Norman now for six years and this is the first time we have gone to the fair. We aren't ones to enjoy big crowds, traffic, or the like, so we try to avoid things like this, but this year I thought it would be fun since the kids were big enough to understand and participate.
So one thing you need to know about my darling daughter is that she likes anything that breathes. From human babies to animal babies, it doesn't matter she goes NUTS!!! So of course we had to go see the animals and pet them all!!!
Every kind of farm animal was there! She was in heaven!
(This is what happens when I get to hold the camera! I take a picture of the normal photographer!!!)
Baby chick:
Please realize she is screaming "baby" right now and smiling big cheeser smiles because she is so excited! She does this for most animals!
Sometimes she even gets the animal sounds in their too, when it's not a baby!
N got to give this pig a drink!
He thought it was sooo cool!
So funny story from my youth before I show you pictures of my darlings on the rides.
(feel free to by pass this story if you are only interested in the pictures)
So we were on our annual trip to Utah. This time we stopped our westward travels for a bit to drive through a wilderness park where you can drive by some animals that you normally don't get to see up close and personal. So my next sister was in the front seat with the window down getting a pretty good view of all the animals. There were all kinds. When we happened to come upon some donkeys that were pretty close to the cars. I'm sure they were used to the drive by stares of all the tourists. Now what you must realize now is that we were in our old 8 passenger-fit everything in the back- vinyl seats-must manually roll up the windows-huge gray van at the time and these donkeys were looking for hand outs! And one was coming straight for my sister's window! I've never seen a 8 year oldish girl (maybe she was older than that) roll up a window so fast in my life!!! It was a close call folks! But she did make it before that donkey could start rummaging through our travel snacks for something he would like.
Now why to I tell you this story? Because something similar happened to E last night. E was in the stroller and we were looking at some beautiful Appaloosa horses and were by a baby one that stuck it's head out to be petted. We were petting it and that neck kept coming out of the fence and got really close to E, which she didn't like, of course. We started pulling away from it and it took a nip of the stroller tray before we could get far enough! I'm sure there is teeth marks there! Someone get this horse some food! :) But we all survived unscathed! No worries!
Now on to the rides:
This is the first time either of my kids have been on rides at the fair or anywhere for that matter. So when N saw the ferris wheel he was so excited! All he wanted to do was ride the rides.
So we started with the merry-go-round:
It was the only ride both of them could go on really. They of course loved it.
Then N went on the motorbikes:
See he's in heaven! Pure joy on this kid's face!
Poor E was to short to ride! She was so sad!
And finally his first roller coaster!
The man doing this one was really cool! He got the kids to let go of the bar in front of them and do different hand motions while they were going around. Do you see that smile?? He didn't want to go home!
